No one is prepared for a catastrophic injury, and the days, weeks, and months that follow can be a time of uncertainty and feelings of hopelessness. The journey on this road of recovery can be overwhelming and often the biggest fear is the unknown. The recovery process is often a life long pursuit that continues long after inpatient rehabilitation. The best way to equip yourself is by staying up to date on the latest advances, research, treatment, and resources in your community. Accord Services, a private duty nursing company for catastrophic injury, saw this need and created The Journey Back to Life Project in 2007. The project includes a series of one day symposiums that feature topics on health, resources, and motivation. By partnering with recognized leaders within the medical community, educational opportunities are provided to foster hope and restoration of life for survivors, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
